Ireland opened the India Tour of Ireland 2026 with an impressive victory, defeating India by 34 runs in the first T20 International at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast. After being asked to bat, Ireland recovered from an early setback and gradually built a competitive total. Matthew Hollard delivered a match-winning bowling performance, consistently troubling India’s batting lineup with his accuracy and control. Supported well by Matthew Humphreys and Jai Moondra, Ireland maintained pressure throughout the chase and eventually bowled India out for 148 in 18.5 overs.
The victory gives Ireland a valuable 1-0 lead in the series and provides tremendous confidence ahead of the second T20I. India, meanwhile, will aim to regroup quickly and produce a stronger all-round performance in order to level the series.
