The T20 World Cup 2026 will take place in February and March 2026, with India and Sri Lanka co-hosting the 10th edition of the men’s tournament. A total of 20 teams will compete for the title in one of cricket’s biggest global events.

How Teams Qualified for T20 World Cup 2026

Qualification for the 2026 edition was determined through automatic spots, ICC rankings, and regional qualifiers across the world.

Automatic Qualification (From 2024 T20 World Cup)

  • Top seven teams from the 2024 tournament (excluding hosts)
  • Three highest-ranked teams in ICC T20I rankings (as of 30 June 2024) not already qualified

Europe Qualifiers

  • Netherlands
  • Italy (first-ever cricket World Cup qualification)

Italy’s qualification marks a historic milestone as they reach a major ICC global event for the first time.

Americas Qualifier

  • Canada

Canada dominated the Americas Regional Final at home, winning all six matches to secure qualification ahead of Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and the Bahamas.

Asia-East Asia Pacific (Asia-EAP) Qualifiers

  • Nepal
  • Oman
  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)

Africa Qualifiers

  • Zimbabwe
  • Namibia

Both teams confirmed their places by reaching the finals of the Africa Qualifiers in October 2025.

Bangladesh Withdrawal and Replacement

Bangladesh initially qualified as one of the top seven teams from 2024 but later withdrew due to security concerns. Scotland replaced them as the next highest-ranked eligible team (World No. 14).
